Sure can. There go the main shaft bearings and the 3-4 idlers.

Tomorrow I will finish installing the engine and transmission in my 1982 air cooled Westy after a long winter of repairs. The only thing I don't have is the tranny fluid which I had to order on-line and will not receive until Tuesday. As you can imagine, I am itching to start the engine to see how my repairs work out.

Question: Will I harm the tranny (manual 4 speed 091) if I start the engine without fluid in the tranny? Of course I will keep it in neutral.

Can't wait to get on the road, Jake
