I think the 215/70R16 is the limit for a 2WD, yes these are slightly taller than 27" - something like 27 3/4"

You are still a long ways away from hitting the rear trailing arm = 225/75R16 doesn't hit the rear trailing arm another 1/4" to go. Where you will hit is on the rear section of the front fender openings on a 2WD - this is the first area to worry about.

Too see these mounted on a Syncro go to http://www.syncro.ca/tech/tirefitment.htm there is a good picture there showing the rear trailing arm clearance with a 225/75R16

My first Syncro DoKa came stock with 225/60R16 tires - reinforced Continentals. These did fit in the front spare tire carrier with a 1.5" spacer between the frame and the door.

okay say with 215/70R16 tires would there be any rubbing or clearance issues? also with these tires what would be approximately the tightest clearance area. from pictures i have seen it looks like the the clearance gets tight between the tire and the front of the rear trailing arm as wheel/tire size is altered from the stock configuration. is this true and are there any other areas where clearances become quite a bit tighter.
