Hi folks,

I'm finally going to get on the road Monday and begin my life as a vanagon resident. Thanks to much help from my friends and this list, I've managed to fix a number of problems with the van already. But not all - I'm taking some of them with me.

I'm going to be in Norfolk, Virginia from roughly April 3-6, and was wondering if there's someone in that area who would be willing to spend some time helping me do a couple of additional fixes.

First, my SurePower separator still hasn't arrived, and I don't want to sit here in the Washington DC area waiting for it before I go. So a friend is going to pick it up and mail it to me care of my uncle in Norfolk. We've done some of the installation already - Optima battery is neatly in place, some of the wires connected and running under the carpet to the spot for the separator in the cupboard. I need to connect the separator, connect the lights and refrigerator to the Optima, and install a 12-volt outlet nearby so I can plug things in.

Second, I am planning to replace my entire skylight, as it is in dreadful condition. I'm going to order the full replacement kit Monday, also to be delivered to my uncle's in Norfolk.

If anyone is in that area and would be willing to help me install these things, I'd really appreciate it. I don't have tools or much mechanical knowledge, but I need to learn and want to do as much as I possibly can (subject to possible skill working with unfamiliar tools) myself. So I'm looking for someone who likes to share his mechanical knowledge with new learners.

If you're in that area and would be willing to help, please email me offline. I'm probably arriving on the 3rd sometime, and will be there through the first night of Passover (Monday) - probably Sunday the 4th is the logical day to work on the van.

Thank you!

Joy
