My vanagon was stolen some years ago. Fortunately they found it back two weeks later and 150km from home. With a broken steering lock and a 10degree twisted steering column, and some damage to the dash around the empty radio-slot :-) But I got the van back!

After repairing the damage and changing the door-locks (you could open the old ones with your finger nail) I added some "features": a blinking red LED on the dash and a relay in the wire from starter switch to starter relay (currently operated by the backout-switch). And to come: a switch in the wire to the diesel-pump solenoid.

Tip from a friend: place the horn of the alarm in the interior: better for your neighbours, worse for the thief.
