Quick fix in many cases with the later rear hatch latches:


Insert key, turn until key slot is vertical.  Press key and latch in, turn
key to horizontal.


This is the remedy to unlock the latch when someone has carelessly locked it
while depressing the latch.  It's a slight design flaw.
