Howdy All,
First, I'm not getting any compensation or other consideration for writing
this e-mail. I have merely done business with this company on several
occasions. In every transaction, I have been more than pleased. Their tech
support also seems to be top notch.
A month or two ago, I ordered a simple $20.00 harness to mate the Vanagon
radio wiring harness to a Pioneer stereo a friend had given me. Despite the
piddley amount of the order, the sales person, Michael, was very polite and
helpful. In our conversation, I discovered that he himself is a Vanagon
owner!
I decided I needed a CD changer. I knew what I wanted. I did a considerable
amount of price shopping online. I found only one place that, once all was
said and done (including shipping charges), would have been a mere $10 less
than Crutchfield. Just knowing that I would have access to their tech
support, I decided that I wouldn't gamble.
Yesterday, I called back and spoke with Michael again. This time I placed a
larger order for the CD changer. Once again, very helpful and friendly. I
mentioned the Vanagon list. He had never heard of it before.
Although the entire sales staff is very helpful at Crutchfield, I would like
to suggest to fellow Vanagon community members, that they try to do business
with Michael. One Vanagon owner should help another. I even think that
Michael might be joining our list.
Here is his contact information:

The sales people at Crutchfield all work on commission. Not a bad, or
uncommon, way of doing business. I was never pressured to buy anything other
than what I wanted, even when I only ordered the $20 harness. I was never
rushed. I was always respected.
I would like to suggest that everyone in our Vanagon community help out a
fellow Vanagon owner. Try calling Michael at Crutchfield if you need audio
gear (whether auto or otherwise). Mention that you heard about HIM from the
list.
Whenever possible, I really try to buy locally. No local stereo shops have
ever come close to the level of service or knowledge that Crutchfield
offers. In fact, I have found that, without exception, Crutchfield has
always had better product information in their site than the manufacturers
have on their own sites.
Once again, I received no special compensation, discount, or other
consideration in the deal. I am receiving none of the above for writing this
e-mail either.
Support a fellow Vanagon owner. Call Michael at Crutchfield.
Cheers,
Bruce
