Is it possible to install a standard transaxle in place of the Syncro transaxle, as a temporary fix to get it back on the road? I am seeing a number of Syncros with bad transaxles being sold, and was wondering if a standard transaxle could be put in. I realize that there would be no AWD capability, but will it bolt in (with the forward drive shaft removed)? Would the stock 5-speed linkage work with the 4-speed transaxle (with no granny gear to go into, of course)? Yeah, I'm dreaming a little bit here. Just wondering if it is possible/practical as a short term solution until money appears! Don in Phoenix, AZ - still can't get the archives to work, it just loads a blank page for me... |
