Subject: need help with engine assembly
Content-Type: text/plain; format=flowed

i'm currently assembling my 2.1 waterboxer, and I'm at a point where i dont want to continue unless i'm sure i have everything right. i cant remember which way the cylinders faced when i removed them. one side of the cylinder has two raised spots, and the other side has one solid raised spot that goes all the way across and has numbers stamped on it. i think the side with the numbers faces the flywheel, or do they face eachother?? i cant remember what it looked like when i took it apart, and i never marked it. can someone help?

also, i forgot to keep track of the lifters when i pulled them out. i've read that if you dont put them back in their original position, it will cause premature failure of the camshaft. has anyone had a problem with this before? should i replace the camshaft and lifters now, so it will have all new surfaces? replace the camshaft only, since my lifters weren't that noisy before?
