Subject: Pop top front seal question
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Have a new front seal for the pop top from Bus Depot. It has an offset to it, one side of the seal is "flat" and one side has the "offset". Which way does it go on the pop top? When installed on the edge it seems to have a curve to it that seems to me that the offset goes on top that way the gasket curves downward to seal against the luggage carrier. But the guy from BD thought it goes flat side out which to me would cause the gasket to curve away from the luggage carrier and could "catch" air / wind and leak

On another note I noticed after I installed the perimeter poptop seal that the water running off the pop top will run right down into the U channel of the seal. this standing water and moisture trap is great for starting the mildew on the canvas and interior flocking on the pop top.

Anybody run a bead of sealant between the pop top and the perimeter gasket to not let water get in the U channel?

I know the stock seals rust out in the U channel for this very reason BD went to the aluminum in the gasket.

Thanks,

Doug
