I have a Warn 8000 on the front of my Single Cab Syncro - there used to be another one on the rear of it too! The 8000 has a stall out rating of 8000lbs. I really hate using it to that degree as the truck really starts to creek and groan!

I am working on a front bumper that will take a winch - the problem that I don't like about them is they sit in front of the radiator and they will cut off the air flow to the rad some what. No over heating problems with my truck, but... the design I will be going with on my TriStar is a front and rear 2" receiver and mounting a winch on plate that will slide into the receiver. Arc welding disconnects front and rear for the 12V power supply - these can also be used to boost the truck so you don't have to go fishing under the seat any more.

The trick is building a bumper that can take 10.000lbs of pull without bending... we're getting there!

Hi Folks,

Kinda curious if anybody out there has a winch on their van. If so what kind of winches you have out there?? Basically how much oomph - 1500lb's or what?? Do ya mount them front, back or both?? Special frame mods or is there a good way to just bolt 'em up??

Yes Ben T. I mean winch not wench. If you really like bolting 1500 lb wenches too your van that's probably too much info for innocents like me. :oP

Thanks Tromper Winchless in Seattle
