I didn't realize this problem was systemic and spent about a week shimming my
luggage rack so the front pop top seal would seal. I assumed my luggage rack
was warped or something since the front seal didn't seal and would have
definately caught wind and water. The stock front piece, as I recall, had an
aluminum strip in it which possibly helped it keep the correct contour. The gap in
the center of the from seal where it meets the luggage rack was wide enough on
my bus I don't believe it would have sealed even after a few days in the
sun--on Mercury. I thought maybe the DPO had carried something heavy in the luggage
rack and "flattened" it a bit.
