Subject: Ripped Off by Direct Auto Dismantle

As many of you are aware, I bought a TDi engine last year to do a conversion on my Syncro. I bought the engine from Nathan Bernard of Direct Auto Dismantle (aka Europart Solutions, aka Tuning Science) in Hood River, Oregon.

When I picked up the engine, there were some parts missing that he had said he would promptly provide me with. I made the mistake of paying him before I left with the engine. He told me that the engine was a non-immobilizer unit from a 2001 SEAT and that he would provide me with docs from the VW auction, where he bought the engine, that certified that this preproduction engine had less than 20K Km on it.

Turns out that there is no such thing as a non-immobilizer unit for the VW/Audi/SEAT/Skoda auto engines. It also turns out that the TDi engine and EDC he sold me don't match.

Well, after a year of hounding this guy for the rest of the parts and not getting anywhere, he has disconnected his phones. His website: http://www.europartsolutions.com seems to still be up and running. The County of Multnomah and State of Oregon had a DBA but no tax ID or records of this business and will be tracking him down using other info I was able to give them.

I'm sure I'm not the only one he's been stringing along. I've talked to others that are worse off than I.

Steer clear of this guy, he's bad news! Time to call in "The Law"...

-Steven Dodson Kneeland, CA "Inga" the 87 Syncro
