That's what got me off my butt at this computer and now all is <DIV></DIV>&gt;wired as prescribed. I won't even try to explain why I thought I had done it <DIV></DIV>&gt;correctly the first time, or for that matter, why I thought they were <DIV></DIV>&gt;working. I can say, to the best of my recollection, I had not heard/read the <DIV></DIV>&gt;quoted sentence above prior to reading it here. The Volks Café online <DIV></DIV>&gt;instruction, identical to Frank's, says to locate the white and yellow wires <DIV></DIV>&gt;leading from the switch, which for most volks would be enough information, <DIV></DIV>&gt;but apparently not this volk. <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;Anyway, nice to have this done correctly now, despite my fumbling. Progress, <DIV></DIV>&gt;not perfection. <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt;Bob <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; Ok Bob, you did yours wrong also. That explains why you are burning up <DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; headlight switches now that you have added more lights. Frank needs to <DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; make the installation instructions clearer I guess. The correct wires <DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; are inside a black plastic sleeve in the area nearest the dimmer switch. <DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; That makes it less obvious which wires to use though I don't understand <DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; why 2 guys would think it ok to splice into wires that are clearly the <DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; wrong colors and way too small to be the headlight wires. <DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; I also own an 87 Syncro and the headlight wires are white for high beams <DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; and yellow for low beams, just like Frank says. I just removed the <DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; steering column cover to make sure. Bentley wiring diagrams show the <DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; same colors for all 1986 and newer Vanagons. <DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; <DIV></DIV>&gt; &gt; Mark <DIV></DIV></div><br clear=all><hr> <a href="http://g.msn.com/8HMBENUS/2749??PS=">Check out MSN PC Safety & Security to help ensure your PC is protected and safe.</a> </html>
