Ok Bob, you did yours wrong also. That explains why you are burning up
headlight switches now that you have added more lights. Frank needs to
make the installation instructions clearer I guess. The correct wires
are inside a black plastic sleeve in the area nearest the dimmer switch.
That makes it less obvious which wires to use though I don't understand
why 2 guys would think it ok to splice into wires that are clearly the
wrong colors and way too small to be the headlight wires.
I also own an 87 Syncro and the headlight wires are white for high beams
and yellow for low beams, just like Frank says. I just removed the
steering column cover to make sure. Bentley wiring diagrams show the
same colors for all 1986 and newer Vanagons.
