Be forewarned that there are specific limitations on how you use the car if you register it as a "historical vehicle" like this. From http://www.michigan.gov/documents/hplate_16252_7.pdf: "A historical vehicle must be: - More than 25 years old. - Owned solely as a collector's item. - Used only for events such as historical club activities, parades and car shows. A designated historical vehicle may not be used for routine transportation." If you can find a plate from the year the car was made, you can have that made your legal plate when you register the car as a "historical vehicle", which is pretty cool.
