I can't answer your question.  I can tell you that I once bought some Volvo
special steering rack grease and it was not at all like wheel grease.  It also
was expensive.  It was a light-bodied, white grease which appeared to be
similar to Lubriplate motor assembly grease.  Since Volvo and Volkswagen start with
a "V", I used it in both.
