I didn't say anything to the kid on the phone, of course I sent him the picture. I didn't want to make him feel stupid, which he obviously wasn't.

But my point was this, which I guess I didn't stress enough originally. While we were on the phone, I walked out and held it up to my vanagon in the driveway. It was a match for the left side, not the right. He gave me several drill to go through to determine handedness, and I did those things. If I had put somebody through five minutes of orientation on something that can obviously only mount one way, I think I'd let it go at that. That was my original point.

All that said, he called back a few minutes ago and arranged the return. He had a reason for asking for the picture, and it had to do with Gnarlie's post--they are forever having customers return mirrors because the ones on their cars are mounted wrong, as hers came back from the paint shop. After haggling on the phone customers about what's the right and wrong way to install a vanagon mirror, they apparently get mirrors sent back to them that are the right item, but the customer is trying to do the wrong thing with them.

So, if you think about it, he asked to see the digital picture so he wouldn't have to take the chance to make me feel stupid if I had been wrong.

Fair enough.

Jim
