It *is* a turbo. 2-cycle diesels are nearly always turbocharged or supercharged because it helps with cylinder scavenging. By having some overlap where the exhaust is open and the intake ports are uncovered simultaneously, the airflow from the turbo pushes the last of the exhaust out of the cylinder.

I'm kind of curious how much boost they're running.
