Phil,

Traveling with a child that age is easy if they have a good temperament. One of the most important time saving suggestions would be to combine any stops that you have to make to feed your child with your own food, gas, toilet, etc, needs. We drove home to Anchorage, AK from Berekeley, CA last August with our son who was 8 months at the time. Eleven days on the road, includng 3 stuck in Whitehorse, YT with a dead clutch, and 3500+ miles and Colin was terrific the entire way. Another listee mentioned that where you are going will be cold at night. We ran into this in Whitehorse, and Colin was cold at night until we put him in the sleeping bag with us. DO NOT do this if you are prone to rolling while you sleep, babies die every year from parents rolling on top of them. Too bad your heading to Vegas, we will be there the 7th - 11th, and could meet up. Enjoy your trip, I am originally from Tucson, but I have not been to the Grand Canyon since I was a kid in the 60's.

Mark in AK 25F and eleven more inches of snow in the forecast - will this winter ever end?
