At one time there was a law in California that required people to pull over & let traffic pass once the line had reached 5 cars or more. Simple courtesy, really. Unfortunately, with the heavier traffic we have now, this is sometimes impractical but I try. It's been my experience that more people will wave thanks rather than curse. And passing safely is a skill that takes practice. On today's multi-lane highways, few people learn those skills well. So, it's better they be over cautious than do something dumb. Sometimes, I'll pull over & let someone like that go by rather than nervously watch them in my mirror trying to judge passing distance. //Jack '85 Weekender |
