Subject: re drafting big rig

I bicycled hardcore for many years, clocking 200-250mi per week. Drafting trucks was a way of life. Then I had an attitude adjusting experience when an empty Alpha Beta truck I'd been drafting at about 55 mph, slammed on the brakes for a red light. Lucky for me I saw the light turn yellow and had just enough time to plant one hand firmly on the back of his truck and tried my hardest to keep from loosing the bike from under me while the back of his truck bounced around. At one point I thought my front wheel had actually touched the truck. I shook like a leaf on the side of the road for at least an hour. I don't think I ever drafted or tailgated again. It isn't worth your life. (Vanagon content below)
