I'd say it depends on how well I know the road and the potential to hit
an unseen dip at high speed. On those roads I know well, I like to go
45-50 - it really is smoother, assuming the washboards are consistent.
Guess it's not the most prudent thing, but hey, I'm young ;)

On the other hand, driving the baja road south of puertocitos, I was
mostly going 5 - 10 mph, because there were some pretty significant dips
that you can't slow down for. But that's not usually the case on much of
the roads in this country.

Slow and easy on the Vanagon, or fast and furious and shake the s*** out
of the
vehicle? Or something in between? I drove very slowly since I was not in
a hurry and
there was no one behind pushing me. On the other hand, walking just
outside the
campground in the evening, I watched  a J**p Chickoree come in at about
50 MPH,
trailing a huge cloud of dust.
