I also have an 87 and had the same o-ring replacement done by a local RV repair place. I watched them do the job (in about an hour) and unless I am mistaken, they did not take the entire valve off the tank. You mignt see if the work can be done that way. Good luck, Lee Kouns 87 Westy 88 Westy
