well, i imagine it would deflect airflow above window, so less snow/rain/dust would get on the rear window.. but i didnt even think of that, and if it would do that - then that would just be a added feature.. the initial intention was for looks only. it looks cool. therefore i put one on my van .. good enough reason for me, and alot of people..
