It's all in your imagination. When I drive my Crown Victoria 70 miles per on the interstate here in Texas I get tailgated just like I do when I drive the legal 30-35 in residential areas. If I drive 80 on the interstate the hurry up boys always like to linger behind me long enough to see if I'm a plain clothes cop or not before they pass at just over 90 mph. In short they treat everybody like that if they can catch up and get behind them. On a recent trip to Davis Oklahoma from Dallas a bunch of these hurry up boys came as a swarm from behind, overwhelmed me in my Porsche and the highway patrol that they passed as they passed me made no moves to stop any of them. If you're not traveling 80-85 mph it appears that there are lots of these guys. On the other hand if you're traveling over 80 but below 90 mph they seldom catch you so you never know they exist.

Dary, I just had to laugh when I saw your post. I have always found that , no matter how fast I am driving my Westy or my 78 Bus, people love to tailgate those things. If I am going 75mph they crawl right up behind me and you can tell they are just itching to pass! (I have a little sticker on the back that says "I'm givin her all she's got Captain!") I have come to the conclusion that VW vans just look slow so people are automatically ready to assume they need to pass them. My only consolation comes from the current state of a leaky pushrod tube that sprays a fine mist of 40-weight on the front end of those tailgaiters!
