I recall reading a Car & Driver road test of the new Yugo shortly after it was introduced. I think the title of the article was something like "Blue Light Special: the economy car for the K-mart shopper". They whipped that poor little thing around a banked race track, tossed it through the slalom course, and spun it around on the skidpad. Not surprisingly, it lost points for its lackluster performance and cardboard dash panels.

At the time, when you ordered your Lamborghini Countach at the dealer (and who hasn't?), the optional fiberglass wing on the rear end cost $3990, equal to the all-up price for the Yugo.

Car & Driver's final buying advice was something to this effect: "If we were to spend $3990, we'd rather have a Countach wing on the coffee table than a Yugo in the driveway".
