Koni and Bilstein both make good shocks for the Vanagon. I can get you a good deal on all of the above ;) I've got H&R springs on my 87 GL. Cool looking but can give you a wicked ride if you have the wrong wheels and tires on there. I don't particularly like the raked (lower front) stance. Increases steering effort and transfers weight forward. The stock Vanagon was pretty much 50/50 weight distribution.

Chris, can you post prices on the shocks (or pmail me)?
