The procedure for checking GENERAL problems with the fuel pump is. Remove the fuel line from the inlet side of the filter / pump (whichever is closest to the tank drain tube). Blow air back into the tank with the fuel cap off (low pressure so you don't explode the fuel return tanks and crossover lines). If this is clear then it's on to the filter, good it's already new. Next check the pump and see if you're getting 32 PSI (Or More)presure when you block the discharge flow and it continues to hold that flow pressure. Next check the fuel pressure at the fuel rail and see what pressure the fuel regulator functions at 18-32? What does the manual say?. If your fuel pump isn't mounted on the rubber type mounts it will tend to be more audible. If everything checks out and it's still loud it's then time to buy a good used pump as a spare, test it and stow it until the existing pump goes South.

Warren,

Before you give up, remove the pump and clean the internal screen on the inlet side. Then install an in-line filter ahead of the pump.
