Pretty simple: - source a dead diesel vanagon, pull what you need and ebay the rest - source a wrecked I4 VW (pick you're favorite) - spend a few weekends/weeks/months moving things from one to the other - invest a little more time in working out the kinks

If the planets align, you could even spend less than a grand - but that may be hard! It all comes down to time v/s money.

john (so, anyone have a wrecked I4 VW for sale cheap? Must run :)
