It's not a "thing", it's a "thang" as in "Wild Thang". Reminds me of a beater Impala convertible I once saw as I plied the mean streets of Trenton, New Joisey. It had a homemade plate stuck on its grille which read, "WHEN U HOT U HOT". On the deck was its counterpart, "WHEN U NOT U NOT". I think this might have the origins of the Pimped-Out cult.
