"The crud in the filter is rust - how do I clean and rust-proof the inside of the tank - can it be flushed by someone without removing? Or should I pull it and flush with rust proofer?"

-I did it two years ago and i still have no problems. I used the POR-15 gas tank restoration kit. I followed the detailed instructions. after dumping sealer into the tank, I would frequently stick an air hose inide the metal tubes that come out of the top of the tank and blow out any clogged sealer while the stuff drys which i did frequently. The stuff drys hard as a rock. After checking new OEM gastank prices, this restoration kit was the cheapest way to go for me.
