Picking nit's are we? :-) My bad, the engine in our bus is indeed stock and constructed at the factory, although, (like its owner, a proud member of the zipper club), it was rebuilt +/-40k ago it remains air-cooled, highly reliable, and not petered out (yet). David _____

Now that does put the problem in terms I can readily understand, not that I have experienced the problem mind you as my 1.9 is air-cooled, highly reliable (knock on wood) and has not petered out (yet). (puns required) Hmmmm........... How'd ya get a 1.9 aircooled? Is this a made up story about a made up engine? IIRC Vanagons came with 2.0 aircooled motors. That's not saying you can't cobble a 1.9 out of aircooled VW parts. This is gnus to me if your Vannergon came with them stock. When Vernagon folks talk 1.9, they are usually refering to the 1.9 liter horizontally opposed with watercooled heads injun. That's what I wuz stinking. BenT Wood
