Hi Eric,

We lost the invoice in the muddle of repacking the bus after the roadside repair was completed. By then we had been stranded for about 3 hours and the kids were restless and we just wanted to get rolling. We didn't even notice it was gone until someone at everybus asked us the same question. The pump is very generic-looking and has no numbers on it at all.

Sorry about that. But if you know a parts shop with someone who can read a catalog it shouldn't take too long to get a suitable part. Fred Roberts Auto Parts in Bath N.Y. was a great help.

Tell the guy with the book to start looking for pumps used on mid-80's Ford Broncos.. Off the top of my head I think you need 50 gallons per hour, 35 PSI Min (for a bus) 70SPI max, 12V and 10mm hookups. Make sure he cross-references the specs with those for the Vanagon to be sure.

One more thing... The Vanagon fuel pump has 10mm input lines and 7mm out. The Vanagon filter has 10mm out and 7mm in. When we switched to the ford pump we had to also switch to the ford filter, because the ford pump uses 7mm in AND 7mm output. It wasn't a big deal for us, we needed a new filter anyway. We just can't use Vanagon filters on the westy any more.

Happy trails,
