Subject: Tach Wiring/Interior Paint Color

I had a 1.9TD installed in my '84 Westy and am attempting to hook-up the tach by using a signal converter connected to the W terminal on the alternator. I did not do the install and the original tach wire (which I assume was connected to the coil) has disappeared. Did this wire go from the coil to the little black box on the rear firewall or did a wire run all the way to the front of the van (an if so where does it connect at the front)? I have a Bentley, but since I can't read wiring diagrams I am at a loss. I have the standard dark brown dash and dark brown plastic lower panels and I need to repaint some of them. Does anyone have a suggestion on an off the shelf spray paint that matches, or does anyone know what paint code to use to have a spray can custom mixed?

Thanks Wade Yorke Nova Scotia
