In a project Syncro I bought recently..just found that BOTH alternator bracket mounting bolts are sheared off in the block....perhpahs because someone mounted a heavy non-vanagon alternator onto it. Anyone know how these bolts could be removed from the block....I remember some tool my dad use to use for this sort of thing by drilling in the center of the broken bolt and screwing into it at "tap type" device that you turn counter clockwise..... Access is pretty tight in there though ...to get a drill in...maybe a right angle drill...but it would be hard to keep it straight into the center of the broken bolt... I'd sure like to do this without having to pull the engine out. Any help appreciated. Warren |
