i believe fastfoward and some other places sell special hinges from europe
that raise the factory westy bed enough to clear the raised cover.  if any
one has more information on these i would be interested.  as for me and my
raised engine cover.  its raised about 5" total and it doesn't bother me
as i made my own custom bed.  i have to admit that it probably isn't what
most people with campers would want but, it works well for me.

as a note you can also lessen the raise needed for the engine cover by
dropping the engine down similar to the way vw did with the diesel or with
the syncro.
