George, I have tried three different thermostats and they all do the same thing. Curious that when going downhill it will cool only to the spot just at below the halfway mark suggesting that the gauge itself is working along with the thermostat when no load is needed. Gauge will shoot all the way to the top when it is hot and I am going up a long hill. Never had any boilover yet but have alway resorted to using the heater to cool the engine.
