Thank Ben. I was thinking the same thing; the rad may not be heating up enough to switch the fan on.

This means either: 1) the thermostat is stuck in the closed position 2) the rad is plugged 3) the waterpump isn't moving enough water

Sure do hope it is the thermostat, but...the temp gauge looks normal when the van is in motion - so the rad must be cooling enough coolant to keep the engine at normal temperature. If the thermostat was stuck would there be much difference between the cooling while in motion vs at a standstill?
