It worked great on my diesel, but none of that oil was "cooked on". If you can rent a high-pressure steam cleaner, that may do the trick. They're often used for degreasing stuff in industrial settings. (Note I don't mean a pressure washer -- different tool entirely, though there are some similarities.)
