If you need to replace the housing where the shifter bolts, you are looking at a full tranny overhaul. It all gets disassembled strting at the differential end. Dennis -----Original Message----- From: Vanagon Mailing List [mailto:vanagon@gerry.vanagon.com] On Behalf Of Warren.K.Lail-1 Sent: Tuesday, April 20, 2004 12:29 PM To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Subject: sealing transmission I've bought a transmission off eBay. It came from Mass and has some structural corrosion where the shifter bolts to it, which means that I am going to have to replace the "end cap" or the cap that is nearest the front of the bus. I know the seals are available, but what all is involved in pulling this housing off? Anything going to jump out at me that I can't put back in? Thanks.
