Sounds like the brake master cylinder is leaking into the brake booster. When you have the old master cylinder off, use a suction device (turkey baster has been suggested before) to suck out any residual fluid left in the booster. The booster is expensive and a PITA to replace, so take care of it!!

It never occurred to me but the clutch works just fine and engages at the same point. The brakes went mushy yesterday but very quickly went to nothing. The pedal hits the floor and no braking pressure. So it's the Master Brake Cylinder (again) or that Brake Servo thing. Thanks
