AFAIK all tachs are alike so long as the cylinder count is the same. So if you take any tach out of a four-cylinder gas-engine car, it will work in the Vanagon. You might want to make note of the wbx's redline on the gauge face, though. VW inlines are a wee bit higher revving -- 7200 on 16-valve, 6800 or so on many 8-valve, vs. the Vanagon's 5400 or so.
