I always use my vehicle jack that was supplied with the van - stock item
- and have found it fully adequate for most jacking operations, when
coupled with a 2X8X12 block of wood.. Sometimes I might use a 4 inch
thick piece of wood for the jack to rest on. I prefer to use the
supplied jack because the jack points are the bet place to lift the
vehicle without damage, and the jack works well.

I leave the jack in place  as backup support for the jack stands.  I
never, ever, get my van off the gound without that double support. The
risk simply is not worth it.

I have found that for the most part the standard vehicle jack, along
with jack stands, when in position in relation to jacking points,
provide sufficient clearance for most maintenance operations under and
arround the vehicle. This is not to say that there may be times when
another arrangement might be desirable. I just  detest have the
bulkiness of a hydraulic jack in my way everytime I turn around., even
though they are handy and quick at times.

sheetmetal!!! Be sure you have them placed against a structural frame
member.""
