The 8" wheel will work as long as they are not overloaded. With all the stuff you want to carry, it seems you've really outgrown the Westy. I used a single wheel trailer for years. If you travel toll highways, consider the added tolls of a trailer. All small trailers will bounce a lot so anything breakable will be ruined, even barbeque grills will be bashed. Everything will also get really dirty. You may also consider one of the sportsmen type trailers with the clam shell carrier built as part of it.

Thanks for the all of the suggestions. I'm still on the fence though. Yes, I agree that the van can swallow lots of gear, both inside, and in the luggage rack. However, I still have designs on a small trailer for luxuries on a longer (timewise) trip. Things like a 20lb propane tank, BBQ, giant cooler, bikes, firewood, folding picnic table, side tent etc etc. Almost all of the locally available small utility trailers have those miserable 8" rims/tires. This week's Canadian Tire Flyer has one on sale for $299 Canadian (regular price $349).

Oh well...think about it some more I guess :)
