That tube is to equalize the air from one side to the other as the rack moves side to side. There should never be any oil anywhere near it or in the bellows. The rack is shot and needs to be rebuilt.

Help needed...

My power steering rack leaks ( severely) from the right side when I turn the wheels to the left all the way. Upon investigation, there is a plastic tube with plastic elbows that spans from the left side of the rack to the right. The elbow on the right side was hanging out of the rack. I wiped it off and plugged it back in, but it looks like it is cracked. Is this tube a dealer only part? What holds it in? It looks like it has an o-ring on it but it was really dried out hards to tell. I checked the steering section of the bently and found no mention of this part. Any help or info is greatly appreciated, by me and my driveway!

Thanks, Matt
