On my annual trek down to No. AZ Memorial Day, I stop near, or in Kanab, UT and use a motel parking lot, or next to it in the dirt. I've also noticed, and used, small pull-offs and side roads just south of there, that are protected from the hiway by terrain and trees, but close enough to be very handy. Some privacy and yet some exposure. I usually get there about 2-3 a.m. and just pop the top and snooze. If needed, there are restaurants at or nearby, restrooms as well and the area is well-enough traveled/exposed that personal safety isn't an issue. I've noticed that if I park the van with the back facing the most traffic, I don't hear it and almost always am facing in a direction where I have some privacy. Handy.
