if i had a silver dollar everytime someone asked what the "mysterious silver
socket" was i would be a rich man :<)

its a euro accy power plug receptacle.   can get male plugs at your local BMW
bike dealer or John Deere dealer (yes, the tractor place)

other switch is prolly your gas heater switch..
