Yup. Feeling kinda stupid here. The mystery button is indeed a cigar lighter. Previous attempts to push it resulted in it popping right back out leading to the assumption that it was a momentary contact switch. Tried it again last night and it stayed in until luke warm and popped out. Oh well ...seems a lot of 20 year old things are kinda luke warm. : > Thanks to all
