Subject: 85 Vanagon w/non-stop blinking LED

Hi All,

I recently had my 85 Vanagon into the shop for a little work. Well, now it runs like crud (super sluggish) and they can't get the T-stat LED light to stop blinking. To fix the problems, they have suggested replacing the fuel pump (which worked just fine before), and sticking tape over the LED. Here is the work that had been done: replaced exhaust manifolds, oil change, water pump, tune-up, replaced filters, replaced T stat, replaced coolant level sensor, replaced coolant hoses, flushed cooling system, repaired some vacuum leaks. They have by-passed the coolant sensor and switched out the instrument cluster to trouble shoot the blinking light. It still blinks. The garage told me that this happens in 85 Vanagons and it can't be fixed!?! The fuel pump or fuel pressure sensor is going south now, too. Related to any work above? Any suggestions out there? Thanks!
