Subject: OX sensor ground question
Content-Type: text/plain; charset="iso-8859-1"

Hi all have been tooling around in my 85 westi without many cares for some time. then started to get a intermitent stutter that would go away after a few min or if you stopped the engine and restarted it a few min later it was back to full power. well this past saturday the stutter came on and didnt just go away after a few min. so i took the 71 sunroof off the lift since its waiting for main and idle jets for its 1835cc dual carbed fun. so the 85 westi went on the lift and i started poking around to find some issues. 2 have been going on for a little while so i corrected those. one was the plastic 3 wire plug on the side of the distributor was broken and so i swapped out the distributor, cap and rotor. also a small exhaust leak from where the 1-3 pipe and the 2-4 pipe connect. put in some real beefy exhaust gaskets and replaced 2 bolts no big deal. so i poked around and found that the exhaust support braket was broken off up by where the header flange is mounted on the #4 exhaust hole. so my question is: is this the ground point for the OX sensor? do i need to run a grounding cable to the bolt locals for proper grounding. should the ohms be "0" from case to exhaust? ive checked all gounds on the motor head to head to body to trans to body to this to that and the grounds are good. the bus stutters at all speeds and idles high for a second or two of course this is after warmed up. any ideas?? thanks Jonce
